Reports printer setup
These instructions deal
with the case where a report has been
generated in QuickBooks 5, and printing is
requested. The Print Reports
window comes up, with access to setups.
Settings
tab normally comes up first.
Print to
permits dropping a menu and choosing a “printer.” The actual choice is among printer drivers, which
may include such alternates as a fax program or a text file. Selection may be made among the drivers that
already have been set up in Windows.
File
appears as a choice when printing reports, but not checks or invoices. For non-paper output of invoices,
some alternatives are presented below.
Orientation
has nothing XE "orientation:paper" to do with Asiatic nations, but with the way the paper would
be held when reading the output.
Landscape
orientation XE "landscape" is useful XE "portrait" for a wide
report with many columns. The same orientation should be selected in this box and in the next one, reached
from Options.
Page range
enables printing only some of the pages.
Preview
gives an advance look at what QuickBooks would print onto the paper. Note the legal wording.
Preview will not display any information that is pre-printed onto the form.
Fonts
tab enables changing the various type faces used in printing the report.
Margins
tab allows adjustment of the margins. This subject comes up again in the solution given below for a
problem of printing being clipped off on the right side or on the bottom.
Options
button gets to the printer properties window, discussed below.
The title bar names the driver in use, and the PC output port through which the information will be passed.
Paper size
lists the dimensions of the highlighted print medium size.
Orientation
needs to show the same selection as in the previous screen.
Paper source
XE "Paper source:printer" may be a concern when printing checks or envelopes.
